The VMIS project is financially supported by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It is designed to provide broader access to the digital collections of the Center for Art & Archaeology (CAA) and Archives and Research Center for Ethnomusicology (ARCE) of the American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS) and create greater awareness about the music, oral and visual traditions of the country.
VMIS aims to provide a space where the 'Images' and 'Sounds' collections of CA&A and ARCE are made accessible to the diverse needs of a growing number of visitors across the globe. In addition to constantly updating collections, VMIS will create exhibitions and features on its website https://vmis.in.
The virtual digital museum is conceived as a curated and yet interactive space where users have the ability to create their unique experience.
As an organization, we are always looking for innovative ways to advance the cause of cultural dissemination for our ever growing community of patrons.
