Tomb of Sheikh Taiyab, Kaithal

Sheikh Taiyab was a great saint and a follower of renowned sufi saint Hazrat Shah Kamal who moved to India from Bagdad after the death of his teacher. He passed away in the late 16th century and it is believed that the tomb was constructed by Hazrat Shah Sikander, the son of Hazrat Shah Kamal. The tomb is built on a square plan, a popular style of Pathan architecture constructed in lakhori bricks and lime mortar. The roof is surmounted by a bulbous dome with a lotus flower finial resting on an octagonal drum-base.The exteror of the tomb is decorated and detailed in brickwork, with niches above door level along with arched doorways and parapet.
