Mausoleum Ibrahim Khan Sur, Narnaul

This magnificent tomb of Ibrahim Sur according to the inscription over the entrance was built by Sher Shah Suri (AD 1538-45) over the grave of his grandfather, who died at Narnaul in AH 927. The entrance modeled on the pattern of Hindu temples, depicts beautiful carvings executed with a well balanced color scheme. The façade, divided in two storeys by a band of moldings is decorated with small panels showing low relief carving in red sandstone bordered with grey limestone. The cenotaph of Ibrahim Khan is built slightly away from the middle of the floor area along with two graves, maybe, of the next of kin, one each on either side.
